Prototyping with paper
For every art fair, I try to add one new twist to my practice. Whether it is a new printing technique or publication, I take it as an opportunity to present a new side of myself to the public. Each new piece begins as a prototype.
Using the Stephanie Houde and Charles Hill framework, each prototype is an attempt to answer questions. How might a drawing transfer to a new ink? Or can I explore precision using a different tool? For Book//Zine, all of my questions are directed towards the form of an artist book. Making book prototypes allows me to feel the ideas. It gives me an object to think against and work through the logistics. Here are some prototypes that I created along the way to the final piece:
