Thoughts on generativity

Working at Anthropic as a generative artist can be invigorating and frustrating. In a time where everything is being reexamined, the words we use can take on new meaning and fail us in the same conversation. My brain feels malleable as the lines between my own research and practice blur and ideas seep into my day job and vice-versa.

In an attempt to create a sharp divide and seed the ground for future thoughts I've published a few ideas to my blog:

• A definition for generative systems
• Navigating the Generative Possibility Space
• The role of surprise in generative systems

Each of these should be flushed out in the future into essays but for now I am staking a claim, these ideas are special to me. They are outgrowth of my practice of working with generative systems for years.
